Château Gazin in Pomerol, with the beautiful classic label on every bottle, most likely dates back to a 12th century hospital of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta. Pilgrims on the Way of St James on their way to Santiago de Compstella were treated there. The red cross on the label and the second wine "L'Hospitalet de Gazin" are reminiscent of this historic place.
The winery is located in a prominent neighbourhood, just a stone's throw away from Petrus, and is known for its powerful and original Pomerols. Despite the high quality, the prices are still comparatively favourable, especially for this elite appellation.
The vineyards cover around 25 hectares and are predominantly planted with Merlot (90%), with some Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The château has been family-owned for over a hundred years.
