Wine spritzer or „Gespritzter“ - go or no go?

Wine spritzers are a sacrilege for many wine lovers. Watering down good wine? How would anyone think of that? But ask a winegrower in Rheinhessen, Baden or the Palatinate what he thinks of wine spritzers. Very much! He even has his own glass for it, the Dubbeglas.

Because sometimes a full-bodied wine is just too much on a hot summer's day. Then it's time for a spritzer. Preferably with white wine and sparkling water, both well chilled or on ice cubes. But it can also be rosé. And if you want, you can have red wine. However, it should have little or no tannin, and the white wine should be fresh, aromatic and juicy and not come from the wood. Even if the Spaniards do use red wine with tannin. However, they replace the mineral water with lemonade with little sweetness. This is called Tinto de Verano. So anything is possible, you just have to look at the wine-growing regions and free yourself from a few conventions.

Today we're sticking with the „Gespritzter“, as the Austrians, Rheinhessen and Bavarians call their wine spritzer.

We use a 50:50 mixing ratio for our spritzer and hope you enjoy our selection.
