Château Lagrange à Pomerol winery

"From the sidelines to the centre of attention."

Jean-Pierre Moueix

The Château Lagrange wine estate has been owned by Moueix since 1953, but it is only in the last decade that the estate has really been revitalised.

Christian Moueix

To be honest, Château Lagrange was an accessory when Jean-Pierre Moueix acquired the Trotanoy vineyard from the Pecresse family in 1953. And for a long time, it was indeed treated somewhat neglected. When the Moueix wine estates in Pomerol were reorganised and it was decided that Château La Fleur-Pétrus should only have vineyards on the plateau, Lagrange benefited from this. It was given six hectares of vineyards on the northern edge of the plateau. The current 9.2 hectares are characterised by heavy clay and the Graves, the gravel soils of Pomerol. This is where 100 % Merlot vines are rooted. The soil ensures that the wine from Château Lagrange is charming even in its youth, combining roundness and generosity, suppleness and fruit with fleshiness and great power.
