"What we look for in wines, every single berry has already stored."

Close to the Palatinate town of Landau lies the Münzberg - in the midst of a gently rolling cultivated landscape characterised by fruit trees and viticulture. Named after coins found in Roman times, the mountain is home to the vineyard of the same name. It is run by the Keßler family.
Jakob Keßler, great-grandfather of the current owners, recognised the value of the land and acquired one of the vineyards on the Münzberg at the end of the 19th century. Today, the team led by Gunter and Friedrich Keßler produces mainly Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
"The art of the winemaker consists solely in preserving the good qualities of the grape." According to this philosophy, the cellar is all about completing what nature has begun. Restraint is called for: "Any intervention can affect the natural harmony. That's why we only ensure calm and suitable temperatures."
The wines are vinified with contemporary technology and the greatest care in two different directions: The fresh, lively, varietal white wines ferment and mature primarily in steel tanks. The red wines and Chardonnays, on the other hand, get their fine spiciness and aromas from ageing in wooden barrels, partly in small oak barriques. Some of the barriques are specially made from Palatinate oak.
