You may wonder why Pese Wein is another wine shop on the Internet. Well, we started because we want to offer you added value. And because our passion for wine didn't just start yesterday.
We may be new, but we've actually been around for a long time: as Hanse-Lounge in Hamburg.
The Hanse Lounge is a classic business club in Hamburg. You probably know it from British films. You're a member, you drop in for lunch or dinner, meet up with business partners or friends and drink wine on many an occasion.
Michael Kutej and Erich Wagner founded this club in 2003. The entrepreneur Erich Wagner is the typical user of such a lounge and Michael Kutej is the born maître.
He is the kind of host that is rarely found today. And when they do, they come from Austria. Just like him. His Carinthian parents were restaurateurs and he learnt his trade in well-known establishments in Germany and California before finally moving to Hamburg.
The Hanse Lounge was a stroke of luck for him. He has been able to utilise his entire repertoire there for 20 years now. This includes his passion for wine, which quickly becomes clear when you look at the club's wine list.
At some point, however, his guests and club members no longer just wanted to drink the wines he curated on site, but also at home. They wanted to pour them for their own guests or give them as gifts.
This initially led to a mailing list and eventually the idea of opening up the offer to club members, but ultimately to everyone, and therefore to you too. It is clear that Pese Wein cannot do it alone.
That's why there is a whole team.
This team includes managing director Stephan Schroeder, Bordeaux expert Rudolf Götz and sommelier Eileen Gilberts.
And then, of course, there are a few people in the background who want to provide you with all the information you need.
