Domaine Trapet Ambre Rouge Pinots Macéré sur B.B.H.M 2020

Elsass, France, Red wine, wine cuvée
0.75 l

The "Ambre Rouge" is a Pinot Gris fermented on the skins with small amounts of Auxerrois from the Sonnenglanz Grand Cru. The "Ambre Rouge" has a subtle, almost closed aroma. The fruit is reminiscent of barberry, redcurrants and apple peel. There is also an aroma of damp pebbles and a little lichen. On the palate, however, the "Pinot maceré" opens up, becoming complex and elegant. The gravelly flavour recedes into the background. Instead, a warm fruit of ripe raspberries and wild strawberries with a hint of blood orange appears. It is a silky, warm wine with a cool mineral vein, whose fruit is enveloped by a fine but distinctive tannin. The finish is grippy and bone-dry, dense and long.

Domaine Trapet Alsace

It was in 2002 that Andrée Trapet, Jean-Louis Trapet's wife, decided to continue running her Alsatian family's winery, travelling from Gevrey-Chambertin to Beblenheim every free weekend. Her son Pierre now runs the estate and is attracting attention with his wines.
