Penfolds St. Henri Gift box 2019

If there is a "coup de coeur" among Penfolds wines, then for us it is the "St. Henri Shiraz". In terms of fruit quality, it is hardly inferior to the "Grange". However, it is matured differently, namely in large, old wooden barrels. This means that the fruit and aromas of the wine do not have to integrate the acidity and tannin from the new wood for years, but are already in a brilliant state at a very early stage. The 2019 Shiraz, which is blended with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, is still characterized by primary aromas. On the palate, it is soft and silky with a charming acidity structure and fine tannins. It is a hedonistic wine that can now be enjoyed fully in the fruit phase with a few hours of air. But it is also good to let it mature for years or even decades.
