Salomon Estate Alttus Shiraz 2018

South Australia, Australia, Red wine, Shiraz
0.75 l

The Fleurieu Peninsula, not far from Adelaide, is one of the finest addresses in McLaren Vale. This is quickly apparent in the wines of Gertrud and Dr Bert Salomon. Their "Alttus Shiraz" is a splendid example of a Syrah that combines both Australian and European traditions into a dense, highly aromatic wine that is only produced in the very best years. It is then a serious competitor to the legendary Penfolds "Grange". At the same time, it offers a sensational price/enjoyment ratio!

Salomon Estate

How many winemakers can you think of off the top of your head who produce wine in the northern and southern hemispheres? There are quite a few. But only a few have wineries in both regions. One of these families is the Salomon family from the Kremstal. For decades, Bertold and Getrud Salomon ran the Salomon Undhof in Kremstal, which was founded in 1792. At some point, they fell in love with the south of Australia and established the Salomon Estate on the Finniss River.
