Franz Hirtzberger Winery
The Hirtzberger family has been producing wines in Spitz in the Wachau for five generations. The Grand Cru from the Singerriedel, Hochrain and Honigvogl vineyards are among the best that Austrian viticulture has to offer.
You might think that the name "Honivogl? belongs to a vineyard, but this is not the case. This famous wine from Franz Hirzberger always comes from the estate's ripest grapes. In 2022, these were grapes from the loess soils of Ried Axpoint and the rockier soils of Singerriedl. The Grüner Veltliner is a wine of tropical richness and juiciness, an opulence that does justice to an "Smaragd? and an acidity and minerality that form the perfect counterpoint. This is what makes this wine, which has been awarded up to 98 points, so great. It is a clearly defined and contoured, full-bodied, almost voluptuous Grüner Veltliner with great potential.
