For more than 25 years, Ernst-Josef and Werner Kees have been running the Kees-Kieren winery, which has been at home on the Moselle for more than 300 years. The winery has 90% steep slopes and 90% Riesling.

The label says Spätlese, but the two stars already hint this is no ordinary one. With 108? Oechsle must weight, fermented to just 8% alcohol, and with 111 g/l residual sugar, this Mosel-Ring auction wine stylistically leans closer to Auslese. Opulent pear, peach, and apricot fruit join with fine acidity for a wine that is both elegant and opulent. Mosel Riesling with potential to develop well into the mid-21st century.
