Quite high up, near a small wood, lies a parcel in the "Hinter Winklen' vineyard on the Ihringer Winklerberg, from whose grapes the Dr Heger winery vinifies its Großes Gewächs with the name "Gras im Ofen'. One of the few really serious Pinot Gris wines in Germany grows here, as well as an outstanding Chardonnay - bursting with power, with a lot of flavour and volcanic minerality. Typical varietal citrus and apple fruit meets subtle smoky butteriness, nutty and vegetal notes round off the picture. All of this with inspiring elegance and depth. A wine like a great Meursault - only without its biggest disadvantage (the extreme price). Now at its peak.
