Fermented in barriques made from French and local oak, ten months of maturation, strictly selective manual harvesting and yield reduction are the key specifications for the vinification of the Birkweiler Rosenberg. The result is a deep and aromatically highly complex Chardonnay. Aromas of citrus (mandarin) and stone fruit (apricot), plus yellow, fully ripe apple and a smoky hint of wood. The 2022 vintage is highly elegant yet dense and concentrated. The fine acidity absorbs the fullness and accompanies the exceptionally long finish. Once again, it shows how perfectly suited the terroir of the southern Palatinate is to Burgundy varieties such as Chardonnay. The Rosenberg, which stretches across three municipalities, is perfect proof of this.
