"Yattarna', a.k.a. "BIN 144', is the white counterpart to "Grange' in the Penfolds portfolio. Just like the iconic red wine, it is a wine that is selected and vinified in the uncompromising pursuit of maximum quality. Only with Chardonnay instead of Shiraz. The 2021 vintage of "Yattarna' is an exemplary reflection of this aspiration. The basis: perfect grapes from Tasmania, Tumbarumba and the Adelaide Hills, matured for nine months in 70% new French oak. The result: a highly complex, extremely multi-layered flavour with fruit, spicy notes and deeply penetrating, salty minerality. All of this is surrounded and complemented by a colourful mix of nutty aromas (hazelnut, cashew, pistachio). A truly great Chardonnay. Now at the beginning of its drinking maturity with potential for at least two more decades.
