Winery Podere Il Carnasciale Il Caberlot Ris. Vigna Vincaie Magnum 2019
Quite a few wineries have monopoly vineyards, i.e. those that have only one owner. Monopoly grape varieties, on the other hand, are something like the unicorns among the vines. One of the best known - and certainly the best - wines from such a variety is probably Caberlot, a presumably natural cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It grows in Tuscany and the wine made from it is named exactly like the variety. It is matured for 18 months in 80% new barriques and bottled exclusively in magnum bottles, the label of which is adorned with a striking black cross as a symbol of the variety. The result is a very complex, dense wine that is also characterized by an enormously fine style. A vinological unicorn.
