Winery Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Pechstein G. C. 2023

If the Kirchenstück is considered the queen among Bürklin-Wolf's Grand Crus, then the Pechstein is clearly the crown prince. Black volcanic basalt gave the site its name – and still gives the wine its depth and smoky-dark character that distinguishes it from all other Grand Crus of Bürklin-Wolf. Flint leaps from the glass, accompanied by slate-like notes. The dense minerality lies like a protective mantle over the still rather restrained fruit (quince, apple) and fine nutty tones. That will change in the coming years – this "Pechstein? has the potential and class for at least 15 years of aging and development.
