Ökonomierat Rebholz Kastanienbusch Riesling GG MGN Pfalz 2023

The Kastanienbusch is without doubt one of the great vineyard sites that the Palatinate has given to the wine world. One could also call it the Palatinate's answer to the legendary Rheinhessen "Roter Hang? sites such as Pettenthal, Hipping, or ?–lberg. Red slate defines the soil here as there, but in the Kastanienbusch volcanic and slate components are also present. At 320 meters, the steep south-facing slope lies quite high – and yet is well protected by the surrounding Palatinate Forest. A distinct and intense herbal spice has always characterized wines from Kastanienbusch, and due to the very particular growing season of 2023, it is especially pronounced this year. It is accompanied by intense minerality, peppery notes, and subtle, finely chiseled fruit.
