Winery Münzberg Grauer Burgunder Godramstein Kalkmergel 2024
Calcareous Keuper with a high clay content, selective hand-picking, a short period of skin contact, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, and finally about three months of maturation on fine lees provide the framework for this village-level Pinot Gris from VDP estate Münzberg. The 2024 vintage presents itself with lively acidity, a fine interplay of core and stone fruit on the one hand and herbal and nutty tones on the other. From this mélange, individual aromas such as peach, melon, as well as pepper or tobacco repeatedly shine through. Supporting it all is a chalky-salty minerality, with a touch of tannin giving additional grip. A Pinot Gris that also stands its ground with robustly seasoned fish dishes or stews.
