Mushroom season starts at the end of August
August package
Mushroom season begins at the end of August and with it another exciting phase in the interaction between wine and food. We have selected three wines that we think go particularly well with mushroom dishes.
The 2020 Domaine Trapet "Ambre Rouge Pinots Macéré" does not come from the Trapets' vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin, but from the family's Alsatian vineyard, which is now run by their son Pierre Trapet. The "Ambre Rouge" is a Pinot Gris fermented on the skins with small amounts of Auxerrois from the Grand Cru Sonnenglanz, which was planted by Pierre's grandfather. It is a fantastic accompaniment to food and an absolute discovery on its own.
The "Château Haut Ferrand" 2012 is a subtle and elegant Pomerol that is perfect to drink now and already smells of black truffle.
The Paul Clüver Estate Chardonnay 2020 from Elgin was made from whole grapes, fermented 100% spontaneously and matured for nine months in 35% new oak barrels. It has been awarded multiple 91 points.
The August package contains two bottles of each of the three wines. They are available at a price of € 144.50 (instead of € 158.90).
