This Montepulciano d'Abruzzo comes from the Vigneto di Popoli, a name that could mean "vineyard of the peoples,? but actually refers to the village of Popoli. Possibly it once was a communal vineyard belonging to the village. The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Vigneto di Popoli? is a magnificently matured wine that elevates the quality of this grape variety to a high level. It presents deep yet fresh aromas of dark raspberries, lingonberries, and red currants, violet dried flowers, earth and leather, with a touch of smoke and undergrowth. On the palate, it shows firm yet fine tannins and a very clear acid structure, with deep, vibrant minerality.
