Shafer Hillside Select Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

In 1972, John Shafer acquired the hill that is home to the legendary Cabernet Sauvignon "Hillside Select'. The 2021 vintage was aged for 28 months in exclusively new French barriques, and it has already "breathed' them in. This is a great wine that has enormous power, maturity and richness, yet is characterised by a fascinating balance. Elias Fernandez, who joined Shafer in 1984 and has been responsible for the wines since 1994, has taken this wine to another level in recent years because, despite its density, it has enormous freshness. The result is a brilliant, clear, smooth Cabernet with deep, dark and red berry aromas, spice and notes of mint, orange zest, graphite and cedar.
