Col d'Orcia Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento Toskana 2016
Poggio al Vento (meaning "windy hill?) is home to this single-vineyard Brunello. It was aged for three years in 25 and 75 hl Slavonian and Allier oak barrels, followed by a further three years of bottle ageing. This intensely red wine has long been legendary, and this is immediately apparent in the 2016 vintage. The bouquet is beautiful in its density, power, nobility, complexity and depth. The Brunello is thoroughly classic and graceful. This does not change on the palate, where this wine seems to be the epitome of a Brunello Riserva. The wine is concentrated and powerful, yet smooth and fresh.
