Wine-growing region Coonawarra
The Coonawarra wine region is located in the south-east of South Australia, about 370 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. The region stretches along the Limestone Coast and is particularly known for its outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
The maritime climate allows for slow grape ripening, while the unique terra rossa soil, red clay over limestone, makes for premium wines.
Since the 20th century, Coonawarra has been established as an important wine-growing region. The wines are characterised by concentrated aromas of blackcurrant, plum, eucalyptus and mint, as well as fine tannin structure and longevity.
