The Lazio wine region, Colli Albani, is located in the Italian region of Lazio, south-east of Rome. The region is known for its picturesque landscape characterised by rolling hills and volcanic lakes. Colli Albani, the Alban Hills, is a group of extinct volcanoes that stretch along a line from Viterbo to the south of Rome and from which some of the region's best wines originate.
Mainly white wines such as Frascati are produced, as well as red, rosé and sparkling wines. The Mediterranean climate and volcanic soils give the wines a characteristic flavour.
