Champagne Jacquesson
"Why strive for average when you can achieve excellence?"

Jacquesson already had a very good reputation in the middle of the 19th century. The house then went quiet for a while, until Jean-Hervet and Laurent Chiquet took it over in 1988 and turned it into one of the best addresses in Champagne.
Anyone who has ever tasted a Jacquesson will never want to miss the experience again. This was also the case for Napoleon I in the 19th century and also for Johann-Josef Krug, who was so impressed by the quality that he became an apprentice at Jacquesson and then achieved a similar level in his own winery. A little later, however, the house, founded in 1789, became irrelevant for a while until Léon de Tassigny took over the house in 1945 and, above all, when Jean-Hervet and Laurent Chiquet began to lead the house in a new direction in 1988. They have achieved great things over the last 50 years and established Jacquesson among the best houses in Champagne.
The vintage and single-vineyard champagnes from the 31 hectares of own vineyards around Dizy, mainly in the Grande Vallée de la Marne, are absolutely outstanding. But even the entry-level cuvée, which is already better than many other wines, has shaped an entire industry. With the 2000 vintage, the Cuvée 728 came onto the market, which has a consecutive number and always comes from 50 to 70% of a vintage - blended with reserve wines. The work in the vineyards is done organically and the base wines are matured in wooden barrels. After blending, the wines are aged for a particularly long time „sur lattes“ in the cellars of the winery in Dizy until they have developed their very individual, powerful and yet charming character.
