The Guinaudeau family is mainly famous for its rare Pomerols from Château Lafleur, but anyone looking for one of the best Bordeaux AOP wines of all should turn their attention to the wines of Château Grand Village, which has been in the family's possession since the 17th century.

The small château with its 16.3 hectares is located on the outer edge of the Fronsac in Mouillac and Salliganc just before Saillans. The soils here are mainly characterised by limestone. 14 hectares are planted with red varieties, divided into 80 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc, while the 2.3 hectares of white vines are divided into 60 % Sauvignon Blanc and 40 % Sémillon.

In addition to these two wines, other wines are also produced on the estate. There is „Les Champs Livre“, a „Blanc“ from its own 0.7-hectare vineyard on the Ambeau plateau, which is vinified exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc with Sancerre genetics. There is also „Les Perrières de Lafleur“, which was called „Acte“ until 2018 and is made from half Cabernet Franc and half Merlot. It comes from the limestone plateau in Meyney.

The team that works here is the same as at Lafleur and knows all four terroirs inside out. It is clear that the wines from Fronsac are becoming more and more exciting, that the climate here is cooler than in Pomerol, which is becoming more decisive as the vintages get warmer.
