"The dream of a wine estate . . . "

Buy wines from Château Haut Ferrand

The history of Domaine Ferrand began when Jean-Baptiste Gasparoux came to Libourne from southern Auvergne in 1902 to settle there as a merchant. At the time, Libourne was just as important a trading centre as Bordeaux.

Jean-Baptiste Gasparoux and his son Fernand were so successful that Fernand was able to fulfil his dream of owning his own winery in 1934. He bought the then already existing Château Ferrand in Pomerol, expanded it by a few hectares and significantly improved the quality. in 1975, he acquired further hectares on the high plateau of Pomerol. Since then, the wine "Château Haut-Ferrand" has been produced from these vineyards.

in 1981, Fernand's son Henry took over the management of the estate, followed in 2009 by his two sons Philippe and Jean-Pascal and his grandson Matthieu, who looks after the wine cellar. Together, they decided to launch „Fleur Ferrand“, a single-varietal Merlot from the best plots, in addition to „Château Ferrand“ and „Château Haut-Ferrand“, in which Cabernet Franc plays an important role. Today, the winery owns 15.5 hectares.
