Until 1999, this 4.5-hectare vineyard was called Certan-Giraud. When Jean-Pierre Moueix acquired it back then, he called the small but very fine vineyard in Pomerol Château Hosanna.
The vineyard originally belonged to the de May family, who were among the first to produce wine in Pomerol in the 16th century. It is very close to the former sister estates Vieux Château Certan and Certan de May, but also not far from the châteaux Lafleur to the north, Pétrus to the east and La Fleur-Pétrus to the west. Jean-Pierre Moueix has kept only the best plots from the former Certan-Giraud estate.

These are located very close to Vieux Château Certan. The lower-lying plots were sold to Château Nénin or integrated into the vineyards of the Moueix estate Château Lagrange. Today, Hosanna has 4.5 hectares with a mixture of red gravel and clay on iron grit. The vineyard is planted with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. 40% of the wine is matured in new wood. It is a "Pomerol" with a powerful style. The wine has plenty of muscle. As the wine matures, it becomes finer and more elegant, thanks to the 65-year-old Cabernet Franc vines.
