Ancestors of the Gurchy family were already working as winegrowers in Saint-Émilion in 1610. in 1882, they founded the family vineyard Château Laroze, which is now one of the jewels of Saint-Émilion.

The château has been classified as a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé since 1955, when the classification system was introduced in Saint-Émilion. It lies at the foot of the north-western slope of Saint-Émilion, alongside the medieval town. The family jewel is surrounded by 27 hectares of vineyards on predominantly stony, siliceous and clayey soils. Five grape varieties are rooted there. These include the most important grape variety in Saint-Émilion, Merlot, as well as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

The two-hectare park with trees and a 19th century building in the style of Napoleon III is also beautiful. The Gurchy-Meslins have always seen themselves as trustees of their property and the surrounding vineyards, which they look after accordingly. This has not changed with Guy Meslin. „We dare to strive for the purity of the wine without disturbing the natural balance, because you can't have one without the other.“ That is the family's motto. For Guy Meslin, this also includes offering a wine that is characterised by great biodiversity without any pesticide residues. Biodiversity and sustainability are two important aspects at Château Laroze. They are incorporated into the endeavours to emphasise the expression of the terroir in the wines through the expression of minerality and aromatic purity and precision.
