Château Lassegue
"Two legends - one vision"
The Jackson family
The Jackson family
The more recent history of Château Lassegue is essentially characterised by two wine enthusiasts. Jess Jackson from the American wine dynasty Jackson Family and the winemaker Pierre Seillan. Since 2003, both have continuously advanced the St. Emilion vineyard with its great terroir, in the direct neighbourhood of Château Pavie and Château Troplong Mondot, and finally led it into the premium league of the Grand Cru Classé in 2022.
The collaboration began in California, where the Jackson Family has its roots. Pierre Seillan has been responsible for the wines of Verité for more than 20 years, which year after year receive top ratings from the most influential wine critic Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) with numerous 100-point scores.
Both have transferred this expertise to Château Lassegue. The Merlot-influenced wine with a large proportion of Cabernet Franc is something of a symbiosis of these two worlds. Lush but elegant fruit and silky tannins with a minerality created by the limestone soils characterise the style.
Pierre, and now also his son Nicolas, attach particular importance to the precise parcelling of the individual micro-crus during the harvest and the ageing in oak barrels specially separated for each parcel in order to bring out the character of each individual crus in the final blended wine.
