The château is a classic, imposing 19th century building. However, the origins of Le Bosq go back to Thomas Barton, an Irish merchant whose name is known from Léoville-Barton and Langoa-Barton.
While the estate had no particular reputation as a winery in 1855, it became a cru bourgeois under the 30-year aegis of Jean Grazilhon. After a period of decline, the Dourthe trading house took over the care of the estate in 1995 and finally acquired it in 2021. After Dourthe was sold to the Champagne house Thienot in 2007, the restructuring really took off. 9.000s of vines on 20 hectares with 10.5 hectares of Merlot, plus 8 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 hectare of Petit Verdot and 0.5 hectares of Cabernet Franc in the vineyard. There are plenty of fermenters in the cellar so that each parcel can be vinified individually.

The vineyard is situated in a magnificent location on the banks of the Gironde estuary between the vineyards of Calon-Ségur and Sociando-Mallet on an 18-metre gravel hilltop. In the cellar, the robust yet elegant, deeply dark and opulent yet structured and fresh wine for which Saint-Estèphe is known is once again produced.
