Château Leon winery

"Silky, balanced and very elegant wines"

Buy wines from Château Leon

Château Leon is located to the east of the city of Bordeaux, directly opposite Pessac Leognan on the right bank of the Garonne. The diverse terroir is similar to that of both Pessac Leognan and St. Emilion, which is why both fresh, mineral white wines and soft, elegant red wines are produced here. On the clay-limestone slopes, Sauvignon Blanc is predominantly grown for the white wine, but also Semilion, which is why Château Leon Blanc is reminiscent of the complex wines of Pessac Leognan. The grape variety distribution of the red Leon is similar to that of the St. Emilion. Merlot is used here for the most part, with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The winery is now technically state-of-the-art. Precise harvesting and fermentation are just as obligatory as ageing (red wines) in the most select barrels from famous clay cellars. The ageing process is very discreet and precisely harmonised with the concentration of the wine. The result is silky, balanced and very elegant wines that are very reminiscent of the Grand Crus from St. Emilion.
