None other than Denis Durantou from Ch. L'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol recognised the potential of Montlandrie in Castillon. The daughters of Durantou, who died far too young, are now making the most of it.
Clay, sand, limestone rocks and iron are not only typical of the terroir of Pomerol, if you look hard enough, you can also find it in Castillon. Denis Durantou from Château L'Eglise Clinet looked carefully and acquired the 19th century Château Montlandrie in 2009. He invested heavily before he died far too young in 2020.

The 12 hectares of vineyards are all meticulously fenced off with dry stone walls, there are beautiful gardens, a state-of-the-art winery and even an amphitheatre on the hillside to host events. The old plantations have gradually been replaced by a massive selection of vines, all of which come from a 1905 plantation on L'Eglise Clinet. It doesn't really get any better than this for Castillon. The organically cultivated vineyards are now planted with 76% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc. Denis' three daughters, Noémie, Alix and Constance, produce a wine full of ripe, dark, juicy fruit and a wonderfully elegant, silky tannin.
