Château Pontet Plaisance

"A true gem in Saint-Émilion."

The Arnaud family

There is no other way to describe the Arnaud family's vineyard than as a gem with wines that are still real insider tips! The château covers just three hectares in the heart of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé appellation. The vineyard, which has been owned by the Arnaud family for three generations, is cultivated with the utmost care. The grape varieties are - quite classically - dominated by 70% Merlot, the most important grape variety in Saint-Émilion. It is complemented by 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc.

The vineyard lies on chalky, clayey soils and the vines are on average more than 50 years old! The result is a Grand Vin that has it all. The aim is not to produce a very concentrated wine, but a Saint-Émilion rich in finesse, which brings the terroir of Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens unadulterated into the glass. Depending on the grape variety, the wine is fermented in concrete cuves and in stainless steel. It is matured in 100% second-use barriques.
