Potensac has been owned by the Delon family, which also owns Léoville-Las-Cases, for several centuries. The wine is one of the best produced in the Médoc appellation.

The Château Potensac estate is located away from the village of Ordonnac near the river, but at the same time on a 35 metre high hill in the northern Médoc.
The vineyards cover no less than 60 hectares of the best terroir, which is characterised by a limestone subsoil similar to that in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. These soils are home to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines up to 80 years old, which also serve as a massive selection for new plantings. In total, 48% of the vineyards are planted with Merlot, 33% with Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% with Cabernet Franc and 1% with Petit Verdot.

The winery is run by Jean-Hubert Delon, a scion of the family that has owned the estate for centuries, just like Léoville-Las-Cases. However, he specifically inherited it from his paternal grandmother, Georgette Liquard.
In addition to the fact that an impressive, deep dark wine reminiscent of blackberries is produced here, which always has strong but finely polished tannins, a visit is also worthwhile because there is a chapel right next to the winery - the second wine is named after it - which a stonemason restored over ten years on behalf of the Delons and which is now accessible again.
