Daphne Glorian can confidently be counted among the most famous and best female winemakers in Spain. She was one of the rediscoverers of the forgotten Priorat in 1988 and today produces some of the greatest wines there.
The rediscovery of Priorat at the end of the 1980s is one of the great myths of modern Spanish viticulture. Back then, Daphne Glorian, René Barbier, Álvaro Palacios, Carles Pastrana and Josep Lluís Pérez set off to explore the forgotten region beyond the low mountain range of Montsant and discover a magnificent landscape with vines, some of them ancient, rooted in the unique black Llicorella slate.

The winegrowers around Daphne Glorian were so enthusiastic that they invested directly. Swiss-born Daphne Glorian scraped together everything she had and acquired 17 small, old plots of land. in 1998, she vinified the first "Clos Erasmus", which - like many of the wines produced by her colleagues at the time - has long since become a Spanish cultural asset. In 2004, with Ester Nin's commitment to the outdoor operation - Ester herself is a famous winemaker and produces wines under the Nin-Ortiz label - Clos i Terrasses was converted to biodynamic cultivation. Today, Daphne's winery bears the name Clos i Terrasses to honour Clos Erasmus as well as the terraces she cultivates today. In addition to the original Escales, these include the Aubagues and Socarrats, Guinarderes and Solanes vineyards. The winery produces exactly two wines: The cult wine "Clos Erasmus" made from ancient Grenache and Syrah and the "Laurel" made from Garnacha, Syrah and a tiny bit of Cabernet Sauvignon.
