The winery was founded in 1981 as Bodegas Granbazán in the heart of the Val do Salnés and is also a founding member of the DO Rías Baixas. The neoclassical-style winery and manor house are a feast for the eyes and blend in beautifully with the 21-hectare Tremoedo vineyard.

If you like, the traditional Bordeaux château style has been perfectly realised here, with the winery located in the middle of the vineyards. The beautiful building of Bodegas Granbazán with its bright blue azulejo tiles also characterised the style of the winery's labels, which are unique and have already achieved cult status.

The winery is located in the Val do Salnés and thus in the classic zone of the Rías Baixas. This region of Galicia is known for its mussel beds and seafood as well as for its wines, whose vines are rooted in granite. The proximity to the sea makes the wines genuine "viños atlanticos", which are always characterised by the saltiness and freshness of the sea. Although there are many old, indigenous grape varieties in the Rías Baixas, including Albariño, the bodegas only concentrate on this one, most famous variety in the region. In return, they produce wines that showcase all of the Albariño's capabilities. It is available as a sparkling wine, as a fresh seafood white wine, as a late harvest, from the large and the small wood. It used to be thought that Albariño had once travelled from the Rhine to Galicia with the monks or pilgrims from the north and was related to Riesling - hence the name "the white wine from the Rhine". This is not true, but the versatility is certainly comparable.
