When Bettina and Wolf Rogosky bought it in 1972, it was largely derelict, without water or electricity. It would take years and a lot of money before both were available and the former winery began to take shape. In the mid-1980s, when the Rogoskys had just received permission to grow wine, they met the agronomist Remigio Bordini, who had discovered a unique natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Merlot in the Colli Euganei near Padua a few years earlier, which he called „Caberlot“. The Rogoskys decided to plant Caberlot and engaged Bordini and Vittoriore Fiore as consultants.

in 1986, the first 3,200 vines were planted in the limestone and clay soil, followed by larger plantings in 1994 and 2004, as „Il Cabernet“ gradually became famous. Wolf Rogosky, who witnessed the first successes, died in 1996. Today, Bettina and her son Moritz and his daughter Carla-Elle run the winery, assisted by oenologist Peter Schilling and Marco Maffei. Today, the winery has five different plots of land from which three wines are produced: The top wine „Il Caberlot“, which from the beginning was only bottled in magnums and double magnums. The Rosso called „Carnasciale“ as a cross-section of the different parcels and soils and „Ottantadue“, a Sangiovese from stainless steel.
