Buy wines from Weingut Cantina Ottella

Anyone visiting the Ottella winery in Peschiera del Garda for the first time will be deeply impressed. Ethics meets aesthetics, free art meets the art of winemaking, which has been practised here for a long time.
The Ottella winery takes its name from the area in which it is located. "Ottella" comes from "octo" or "otto", which means "eight" and refers to the four pairs of twins who are said to have lived here in the 16th century. The coat of arms of the winery and the Montresor family, who are the fifth generation to own the winery, also refers to them. in 1905, they were registered as the first Lugana producers in the province of Verona. This pioneering role has given rise to an awareness of sustainability, which is practised across the entire 90 hectares.

Today, Francesco and Michele Montresor run the winery, but Lodovico, their father, is still a consultant oenologist. It was he who gave the winery its current identity as an art collector. He inextricably linked art with the applied arts and was one of the co-founders of the DOC Lugana consortium in 1967.
While Lugana is now known for masses of comparatively soulless industrial wines, characterful wines are produced here from the Trebbiano di Lugana grape variety - known locally as Turbiana - which is rooted in predominantly calcareous and clayey soils of glacial origin. In addition to different varieties of Lugana, red wines and sparkling wines are also produced.
