Château La Louvière
"A fine ambassador for the Pessac-Léognan appellation."

Château La Louvière is one of ten holdings of the Bordelais wine dynasty Famille André Lurton. It owns a total of 600 hectares of vines. Around four million bottles are sold every year and in around 70 countries.
La Louvière is located on the southern edge of Bordeaux and already existed in the early 14th century, when the Aquitaine region was under English rule. In the early modern period, the estate was donated to the Carthusians of Bordeaux. With discipline and knowledge, the monks produced wines for almost 200 years that sold as far away as northern Europe and even Canada.
With the French Revolution came expropriation. Several families of owners followed until André Lurton took over in 1965, completely restoring the château and restructuring the vineyard.
La Louvière has always been famous above all for its white wines: complex and at the same time elegant varietal Sauvignon Blancs in various qualities. Every seven years or so, conditions permitting, there is "Les Lions de La Louvière Blanc" - with strong concentration due to botrytis and corresponding residual sweetness.
