Domaine Guigal is one of the top producers in the Côte Rôtie appellation on the right bank of the Rhône, south of Lyon. in 1946, the estate was founded by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis. in 1961, his son Marcel took over. Today, his son Philippe is the oenologist of the house, which has steadily expanded over the decades through acquisitions in Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage or Châteauneuf du Pape.
in 1995, the Château d'Ampuis, one of the pearls of the Côte Rôtie, was acquired. The estate includes seven exceptional terroirs: Le Clos (Côte Blonde), La Garde (Côte Blonde), La Grande Plantée (Côte Blonde), La Pommière (Côte Brune), Le Pavillon Rouge (Côte Brune), Le Moulin (Côte Brune), La Viria (Côte Brune).
The cuvées of Syrah and Viognier convince with power and concentration, with aromas of black fruits and toasted notes, strong tannins and high, beautiful storage potential. Fermentation takes place in closed stainless steel tanks. After fermentation and maceration, the 38-month ageing in new oak barrels begins.
