Heartland Wines Winery

"We talk lovingly of our vines and soil."

Ben Glaetzer

The Heartland story began in the late 1990s when winemaker Ben Glaetzer became passionate about the potential of South Australia's lesser-known regions, particularly Langhorne Creek.

Teaming up with industry veterans Scott Collett, Grant Tilbrook and more recently Nick Keukenmeester, Glaetzer developed Heartland into what is now a multi-award winning winery. "A really important point I want to get across is that we're not a group of investors who got together and put money into the business."

Ben Glaetzer

Heartland specialises in red wines and sources its grapes exclusively from Langhorne Creek. Production takes place at Barossa Vintners in Tanunda, about 100 kilometres from the vineyards. Barossa Vintners, founded in 1995, was one of the first wineries in the region to have state-of-the-art facilities and to support top producers with its capacities.

Vinification is emphatically gentle, with transport in the facility exclusively by gravity. In the vineyard, water consumption is controlled. Numerous measures serve to protect the local biodiversity.
