Heinrich Winery

"No fear of new worlds of flavour."

Heike and Gernot Heinrich

Heike and Gernot Heinrich have a very precise idea of the perfect way to create wine: "Add nothing, take nothing away." This is the only way to create authentic products "that tell of their origins." In this case, origin refers to the vineyards around the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl in northern Burgenland.

in 2006, the couple decided in favour of biodynamic farming methods. The farm is Demeter-certified and is one of the founding members of the respekt-BIODYN association, which is committed to biodynamic values.

This involves not only viewing the vineyard as a species-rich ecosystem, but also a strong reduction in the wine cellar - with spontaneous fermentation, mash contact even for white wine, no sulphites and filtration, sometimes years of ageing in clay containers and wood. "In our opinion, the results are increasingly purist, authentic and individualised wines that bear both our signature and that of the region."

The clear demand for authenticity begins with the selection of grape varieties. Many indigenous varieties thrive on the plots around the winery in Gols and on the slopes of the Leitha Mountains. Above all, there is Blaufränkisch, as well as Chardonnay and grey and white Burgundy - but also Muskat Ottonel and Roter Traminer.
