For more than 25 years, Ernst-Josef and Werner Kees have been running the Kees-Kieren winery, which has been at home on the Moselle for more than 300 years. The winery has 90% steep slopes and 90% Riesling.

The family tree dates back to 1648. Initially, the Kees family lived in Kinheim until the grandfather of the current owners married into the Kieren family in Graach. Since then, classic Moselle wines have been produced here by hand under the name Kees-Kieren. First and foremost, of course, Riesling, which is produced in all levels of quality. The wines delight with their fine citrus-fruit flavour and balanced sweet-acid balance. They range from racy dry wines to the liquid gold of Trockenbeerenauslesen. The Kees', who are members of the Bernkasteler Ring, cultivate famous vineyards such as Graacher Domprobst, Graacher Himmelreich and Erdener Treppchen. There are a total of six hectares on mainly blue Devonian slate, which is often planted with ancient vines. There is also Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir, which has only been allowed to be planted on the Moselle since 1987 and is experiencing an impressive revival.

In general, whole-cluster pressing is used here and the wines are matured in classic Mosel vats after a long pre-clarification period. Only the simple estate wines ferment in stainless steel. Pure yeasts are used depending on the vintage and harvest material. Fermentation is usually spontaneous. The wines remain on the fine lees in the barrel until May of the following year.
