Robert Weil Winery
"The aim is to bring the primary fruit to the bottle in full."

Wilhelm Weil
Wilhelm Weil, one of the most renowned wineries in Germany and beyond, is now in its fourth generation. There are two particular constants:
Firstly, since its foundation in 1867 by Robert Weil, only Riesling has been cultivated around the Kiedricher Berg. Secondly, it was and is the declared aim to produce absolutely top wines. Early on, Weil Rieslings were marketed internationally and enjoyed at the courts of Europe as the white equivalent of Bordeaux.
The vines, which are up to 50 years old, are planted at high altitudes on plots totalling 90 hectares. Only organic fertilisers are used, herbicides are completely avoided and the grapes are harvested by hand.
The harvest, which lasts about eight weeks, is extremely selective, with up to 17 passes, so that the optimal degree of ripeness can be achieved in each case. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the winery has succeeded in offering all Riesling premium wines up to the Trockenbeerenauslese level year after year since 1989. This is unique in the world.
The grapes are treated with the utmost care. Whenever possible, the must is fermented spontaneously on the natural yeast at a controlled temperature, resulting in particularly authentic wines.
