Haag family
The Fritz Haag winery is certainly one of the top operations on the Mosel. Oliver Haag took it over from his parents and successfully continued it. Brother Thomas took a different path, namely a whole two kilometres to the west, to the village of Lieser. There, in the 1990s, he and his wife took over the Schloss Lieser winery, which was in need of renovation at the time, and consistently led it to the top of the German Riesling producers.
Today, daughter Franka (sales) and son Niklas (cellar and vineyard) are also part of the core team that now cultivates 24 hectares in the best steep slopes of the Middle Mosel - including illustrious names such as Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Brauneberger Juffer and Graacher Himmelreich.
All wines are fermented spontaneously with natural yeasts at low temperatures. "They are characterised above all by their complexity, elegance and minerality with a low alcohol content. What is unique is the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity."
The experts reward knowledge, passion and dedication with awards such as "Winemaker of the Year" 2015 (Gault Millau) and 2021 (FALSTAFF) as well as the designation "World Class Winery" in all renowned wine guides in Germany.
