South Australia, Australia, Rotwein, Shiraz 0.75 l
In 2018, the Penfolds "BIN 28 Shiraz" still had the addition "Kalimna" in its name. This is the vineyard in the Barossa Valley from which the wine originally came. However, the success of the wine prompted Penfolds to turn the Barossa Valley Shiraz into a multi-regional blend a long time ago. With the 2020 vintage, the addition of Kalimna has now been dropped. The fruit of the 2018 was matured for one year in American oak hogsheads with a new wood content of around 15%. The "BIN 28" is a Shiraz that comes from emphatically warm vineyards. In this respect, it is a textbook Aussie Shiraz that is concentrated, dense and full, yet silky and smooth without being overloaded. It is a perfectly balanced wine.
The place of origin and "spiritual home" of the Penfolds Winery is the Magill Estate, just a few minutes from Adelaide. in 1844, Christopher and Mary Jenfeld planted vine cuttings that they had taken with them on their trip to Australia.
