Winery Heinrich Salzberg 2018

Neusiedlersee, Austria, Red wine, wine cuvée
0.75 l

The Salzberg is one of the oldest and best vineyards in Gols with glacial red terrace gravel and fine-grained sandy-loamy sedimentary soils. The 2018 vintage is a cuvée made from half biodynamically cultivated Merlot and half Blaufränkisch grapes, which were left on the skins for three weeks in wooden fermentation vats and matured in oak barrels for 43 months. The cuvée presents itself in a deep ruby red with violet reflections and reveals an impressive depth with dark red and black notes of blueberries, blackberries, plums and cherries, accompanied by liquorice, tobacco, precious wood and stone. A powerful cuvée on the palate with plenty of juice and extract sweetness, ripe tannins and a long acidic arc through to the dense, slightly salty, mineral and majestic finish.

Heinrich Winery

Heike and Gernot Heinrich have a very precise idea of the perfect way to create wine: "Add nothing, take nothing away." Because this is the only way to create authentic products "that tell of their origin." In this case, origin refers to the sites around the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl in northern Burgenland.
