Winery Fritz Haag Brauneberg J Riesling 2021
Even if the vineyard designation is reserved for the next quality level, Oliver Haag cannot resist a small hint that the grapes for this wine also come from the two top Brauneberg vineyards. "J' in this case stands for Juffer and Juffer Sonnenuhr, the two famous sites characterised by slate. Pure south-facing exposure and slopes of up to 75 % deliver Riesling whose juice is bursting with mineral depth and lush fruit. Wet stone, graphite, apricot, peach and quince combine with plenty of herbal spice to create a great whole that never loses its finesse despite its intensity. Quite a few winegrowers would be happy to have this "local wine' at the top of their range.
