Betz Family Winery
Washington State is now the second largest wine-growing state in the USA. But when Bob Betz founded his winery there with his family in 1997, he was one of the pioneers. Today, Betz wines are state of the art.
Wines from the United States are generally associated with the classic Bordeaux grape varieties. However, the Betz Family vineyards also include around 5 hectares planted with Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and other grape varieties that one would expect to find in the Rhône. And this is not uncommon in the Washington fgar growing region. Grenache and Mourvedre make up 55% and 23% of the Cuvee des Bésoleils, followed by Syrah and other Rhone grape varieties at 11%. The resulting wine impresses with a silky presence on the palate and an attractive mix of fruit. Cherries, blueberries and plums are surrounded by peppery spice, cedar and herbal notes - a very special US-American.
