James Suckling particularly praises the ultra-fine tannins and the earthy, walnut-infused spiciness of the blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot and Carmenère as well as 1% Petit Verdot. The diversity of the varieties and the deep minerality of the wine are certainly also a direct result of the many types of soil on which the grapes grow: gravel and clay, boulders and gravel, volcanic ash. "Quintessa" is the name of one of the most important and independent red wines in Napa Valley. Agustin and Valeria Huneeus' winery of the same name produces exactly one wine - and it has it all. In 1989, the Chilean winemaking couple Agustin and Valeria Huneeus had the opportunity to acquire a special piece of land with over 280 hectares at the foot of the Vaca Mountains in Napa Valley.
